Next-gen BMW 5 Series interiors spied ahead of unveil

Apart from the standard 5 Series range, BMW will also introduce a range-topping M5 version as well as an all-electric i5 sedan.

BMW is working on introducing the next-generation 5 Series sedan in the global market sometime next year. Ahead of its launch, the luxury sedan has been spotted testing on a few occasions, albeit wrapped in heavy camouflage.

Now, ahead of its unveiling, a fresh set of spy images have surfaced online revealing the upcoming sedan's interior. Although the dashboard is under wraps, the images clearly reveal the dual screen setup behind the steering wheel. Reports suggest that the new-gen 5 Series will come with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The spy images also reveal the centrally-mounted rotary dial, electronic parking brake and various other buttons controlling the many features on offer.

While the exterior of the car continues to be wrapped in camouflage, the new images showcase the prototype fitted with production-ready LED tail lights.

The next-generation BMW 5 Series will reportedly be offered with a V8 engine paired with a plug-in hybrid unit. While the exact power figures are yet to be revealed, the hybrid powertrain is expected to produce around 750 BHP.

Apart from the standard 5 Series range, BMW will also introduce a range-topping M5 version as well as an all-electric i5 sedan. While the new-gen BMW 5 Series takes on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6, the new all-electric BMW i5 will rival the Tesla Models S, Mercedes-Benz EQE and the Audi A6 e-tron.
