Next-gen Ford Figo compact sedan, hatchback spotted testing

The next-generation Ford Figo compact sedan and hatchback have been spotted testing in Udaipur with minimum camouflage.

The cars use Ford's new design language with swept back headlamps and an Aston Martin-like, hexagonal front grille. At the rear, the Christmas tree tail lamps of the hatchback have been replaced by more modern wraparound units. The compact sedan gets a small boot and is likely to measure less than four metres in length. On the inside, the Figo twins will get new dashboards with design cues borrowed from the one on the Fiesta. The cars are expected to be equipped with Ford's SYNC voice commanded system. AppLink (smartphone App integration) and Emergency Assistance are also likely to be offered.

The Figo twins are likely to be powered by new 4-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. A naturally aspirated version of the 3-cylinder, 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine could also be used.

The Ford Figo hatchback and compact sedan are expected to replace the current Figo hatchback and Classic sedan respectively. Both cars will be manufactured at Ford's new plant, located at Sanand in Gujarat.
