Next-gen Hyundai Santro unveiled

Hyundai has unveiled the next-gen Santro. First 50,000 customers can pre-book their cars by paying a token amount of Rs. 11,100 between October 10-22. The official launch has been scheduled for October 23, 2018.

The new Santro features a dual-tone front bumper which also houses the Cascade grille. The grille has horizontal slats and a chrome border and is flanked by a set of fog lamps. The sweptback headlamp clusters are positioned above the front fascia. 

In side profile, the new Santro looks similar to the i10, except for a few details. The window line dips slightly beyond the B-pillars, while distinct creases can be seen on the front and rear fenders. The car has body coloured door handles and ORVMs with integrated turn signals. It rides on 14-inch steel wheels, which come fitted with plastic wheel caps. At the rear, the new Santro features a raked windshield and wraparound tail lamps. The number plate mounting has been moved to the rear bumper. Higher variants are expected to get a rear-view camera.

The new Santro comes with dual-tone interiors and a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel. The centre console houses a touchscreen infotainment system which has Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirror Link connectivity as well as voice recognition. The car comes with rear AC vents.

The new Santro will be offered with a 1.1-litre petrol engine that produces 69 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 99 Nm of torque @ 4,500 rpm. It will be paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or 5-speed AMT. The suspension setup consists of McPherson struts with a stabilizer bar up front and a torsion beam rear axle. 

According to Hyundai, the monocoque of the new Santro comprises of 63% ultra-high strength steel and high strength steel. Isolation pads in the engine bay and an acoustic air duct is claimed to reduce engine noise. Double sealing around the doors and body is claimed to reduce wind noise, while road noise has been dealt with by applying Anti pad and carpet felt.

Hyundai is offering 3 Years / 1,00,000 kms Warranty and 3 Years Road Side Assistance on the new Santro.
