Next-gen Hyundai Verna spotted in South Korea

The Verna will compete with the Skoda Slavia, the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.

The first images of the next-generation Hyundai Verna have surfaced online. The car was spotted testing in South Korea.

The spy images suggest that the new Verna might borrow some design cues from the Elantra, based on Hyundai's 'Sensuous Sportiness' design language. The car appears to have a low nose section with headlamp clusters positioned on either side. The rear could feature slim tail lamps with a reflective strip connecting the two.

On the inside, the Verna could get a larger touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car could also get a digital instrument cluster and features such as wireless charging, ventilated seats and automatic climate control; to name a few.

The next-generation Verna is expected to come with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. Both engines could feature mild-hybrid tech with features such as brake energy regeneration and idle start/stop.

The next-generation Verna could arrive at our shores around 2023. It will compete with the Skoda Slavia, the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
