Nissan sets up parts distribution centre in Chennai

Nissan Motor India has inaugurated an after-sales parts distribution centre (PDC) in India. It has been set up in a period of 11 months and the company claims that it complies with Nissans global safety and efficiency standards. The centre will deliver spare parts to the company's authorised service centres across the country, making Chennai the hub in Nissan's spare part distribution strategy in India.

Located at Indospace SKCL Industrial Park in Sriperumbudur Taluk near Chennai, the PDC is built over an area of 45,000 square metres and employs about 300 floor members. The centre has an outbound volume of 2,800 lines per day. It will be managed directly by Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd.

The facility features separate office and canteen blocks and a material storage facility which comprises heavy duty racking, shelving racks, stillage and trolleys. Forklifts and reach trucks are used for material handling.

Nissan plans to set up more such facilities in India over the coming months.
