Nissan X-Trail India launch around June-July 2024

In India, the X-Trail will reportedly be offered with a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine.

According to a media report, Nissan is gearing up to introduce the X-Trail in India in the coming months. The SUV is expected to be launched by June-July 2024.

The fourth-generation Nissan X-Trail has been on sale in the international market since 2021. The SUV will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) under the government policy, which allows the import of up to 2,500 vehicles per year without the need for homologation.

In India, the X-Trail will reportedly be offered with a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The unit produces 201 BHP and 305 Nm and will be paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Whether Nissan will offer an AWD version remains to be seen.

Earlier, Nissan had also showcased the X-Trail e-Power hybrid in India. It features a 1.5-litre petrol engine and two electric motors; one on each axle, giving it all-wheel-drive capabilities. However, it is said that Nissan will only offer the X-Trail in non-hybrid form initially.

The Nissan X-Trail is expected to compete with the Skoda Kodiaq, which comes with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine.
