Production of Hero Dash scooter begins

Indian two-wheeler major Hero MotoCorp has started production of the upcoming Dash 110 cc scooter at its Gurgaon manufacturing facility. The company wants to build an inventory of 30,000-35,000 units before the launch of the vehicle. It is rumoured that Hero had halted production of the Maestro scooter to make way for the first batch of the Dash.

The Hero Dash is powered by a 111 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 8.44 bhp and 9.4 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The scooter gets a telescopic suspension at the front, a monoshock at the rear and drum brakes all round with an integrated braking system. It has a 6-litre fuel tank and an external fuel lid.

Other features include turn-indicators mounted on the front apron, LED tail lamp and an external fuel filler, located between the grab rail and tail lamp. The bike gets a digital instrument cluster with low fuel, service, and side stand indicators, power outlet to charge a mobile phone, and illuminated under-seat storage.

The Dash is likely to be aimed at the market-leading Honda Activa.
