Rare Lotus Esprit Turbo and BMW 8-Series left to rust

A Lotus Esprit Turbo and a first-generation BMW 8-Series have been spotted rusting on the streets of Mumbai. It is said that there are only 3 units of each car in the country. The pictures have been posted on our 'Imports gathering dust in India' thread.

The 8-Series is said to be an 840Ci. The 840Ci was powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine producing 282 BHP. It was later replaced by a 4.4-litre V8 engine. Transmission options included a 5-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual. 30,621 units of the 8-Series were built between 1990 and 1999.

The Lotus Esprit was powered by four-cylinder naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines. A later generation of the car came with a twin-turbo V8 engine. 10,675 units of the Lotus Esprit were built between 1976 and 2004. This particular car is said to have a turbocharged engine and is flood-damaged.
