Royal Enfield planning lighter, affordable bikes for women

According to a media report, Royal Enfield is planning lighter, affordable bikes aimed at young riders and women. These could be sold under the Explorer brand.

The roadster styled bikes (codenamed J1C) could be launched in Q1 2020. These bikes are expected to have a lower seating position and could be lighter than the Bullet.

It is believed that the new lighter bikes will open up a new market for Royal Enfield, especially in Goa, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Kerala and Karnataka and get more women riders to the brand.

Following the launch of the J1C, Royal Enfield is expected to introduce the new generation Thunderbird. The new model is rumoured to be called Meteor. BS6 versions of the Classic and Bullet will also be introduced next year.
