Rumour: Hyundai Creta to get EX variant

According to a media report, Hyundai is likely to introduce an EX variant of the Creta that is said to replace the E+ trim. Both petrol and diesel engines are expected to be offered in EX trim.

The Creta EX will reportedly come equipped with front fog lights with daytime running lights, rear seat armrest with cup holder, adjustable rear seat headrests and a reverse parking camera.

Additionally, the Creta EX diesel is expected to get a 5.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, multi-function steering wheel, map light with sunglass holder and a USB charging port in the front. Reports suggest that the front power outlet will no longer be available on the EX variant. Further, the diesel S AT variant is likely to be discontinued.

Hyundai is unlikely to make any mechanical changes to the Creta. The compact SUV is available with a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder petrol unit that produces 121 BHP @ 6,400 rpm and 151 Nm of torque @ 4,850 rpm, a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder diesel that makes 89 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 220 Nm @ 1,500-2,750 rpm and a 1.6-litre diesel engine that puts out 126 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 260 Nm @ 1,500-3,000 rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
