Rumour: Hyundai to launch i20 Cross on March 9, 2015

Hyundai has been testing the i20 Cross in India for a while now. Now comes the news that the company is planning to launch the car on March 9, 2015.

The i20 Cross is Hyundai's rival for the Fiat Avventura, Toyota Etios Cross and Volkswagen Cross Polo. Based on the Elite i20 hatchback, it features cosmetic enhancements, which give it a more rugged look compared to the standard car. The i20 Cross gets a redesigned front end, new headlamps, LED daytime running lights, restyled bumpers, front and rear skid plates, roof rails, plastic cladding on the sides and different alloy wheels. It is also likely to get exclusive colours. The ground clearance of the Cross is also expected to be more than that of the standard car.

The engine and transmission options are likely to be carried over from the Elite i20. However, they could be given a slight bump in power.

Hyundai is expected to price the i20 Cross Rs. 50,000 - Rs. 75,000 higher than the standard car.
