Rumour: Lexus ES 300h to be launched in August 2018

According to a media report, Lexus is planning to launch the latest-generation Lexus ES 300h in India in August 2018.

The new Lexus ES 300h was revealed in April this year. It is based on the Global Architecture-K platform and is longer and wider than the current ES. The car comes with a larger spindle grille and larger headlights. The front bumper has boomerang-shaped chrome accents. At the rear, the new car gets wraparound tail lights with L-shaped LEDs, chrome garnish and a dual-tone bumper.

On the inside, the ES 300h gets a redesigned dashboard with a 12.3-inch infotainment system with touchpad and voice recognition, a digital instrument cluster and a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel. The new model is expected to be offered with power reclining rear seats and a Mark Levinson audio system with 19 speakers.

Powering the new car is a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired to an electric motor. It produces a combined output of 215 BHP, which is more than what the current model makes. The powertrain will be mated to an automatic transmission.

The Lexus ES 300h will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) and will compete with the BMW 5-Series, Audi A6 and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class in the Indian market.
