Rumour: MAN Trucks planning to exit the Indian market

According to media reports, MAN Trucks could be planning to exit the Indian market in the next 6 months. The company will continue to provide service support for existing customers.

It has been reported that the board has decided to stop all projects in India while the management team reviews the situation. The board will come up with a future course of action only after a detailed proposal is submitted by the management team. The company has reportedly halted BS-VI projects and has also stopped purchasing components from its Indian suppliers.

MAN Trucks India entered the Indian market in 2003. They currently operate one manufacturing unit at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh. It has an annual capacity of 9,000 units and produces trucks ranging from 16 to 49 tonnes.

Scania, another VW Group company is reportedly winding down its operations in India. (Related Thread)
