Rumour: Maruti S-Cross facelift bookings open from Sep 1

Media reports suggest that Nexa dealerships across India will start accepting bookings for the Maruti S-Cross facelift from September 1, 2017. The car's launch is rumoured to be in September.

The S-Cross facelift is likely to get a new chrome grille with vertical slats, redesigned headlights with projectors and integrated LED DRLs and a revised bumper at the front. It is expected to get a set of new alloy wheels as well. The rear of the car is likely to receive new tail lights and a reworked bumper. The interior of the vehicle is expected to be carried over from the current model, albeit with minor updates. The car's Smartplay infotainment system is expected to gain Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

The facelifted version of the S-Cross is expected to be offered with the same set of engines as the current model. At present, the car is offered with a choice of two diesel engines. The first one is a 1,248cc unit producing 89 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque @ 1,750 rpm. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The second engine is a 1,598cc unit developing 118 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 320 Nm of torque @ 1,750 rpm. This unit is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The S-Cross comes in a two-wheel drive configuration only.

There are rumours that a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is being tested in the S-Cross, though there is no news about its expected date of launch.
