German luxury car manufacturer Mercedes is likely to launch the AMG GT sports car in India in March 2015.
The AMG GT is available in two variants - the GT and the GT S. Both variants are powered by AMG's new M178 3982 cc, V8 biturbo engine that is mated to a 7-speed, dual clutch automatic transmission. In the GT the engine produces 456 bhp and 600 Nm of torque. The GT S is more powerful with the engine putting out 503 bhp and 650 Nm of torque. The GT has claimed 0-100 kph time and electronically limited top speed of 3.9 seconds and 304 kph. The GT S can reach 100 kph from a standstill in 3.7 and touch an electronically limited maximum speed of 310 kph.
The AMG GT comes with a double wishbone suspension at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear. The car is equipped with electro-mechanical steering. The GT S variant gets a rear axle locking differential.
The Mercedes-AMG GT is equipped with safety features such as 3-point seat belts with belt tensioners and belt force limiters, front airbags, combined thorax/pelvis side bags, window bags and knee bags, for the driver and front passenger respectively. Assistance systems include Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Adaptive Brake, Attention Assist, Parktronic, rear-view Camera, Pre-Safe brake and tyre pressure monitoring system.
