Rumour: Next-gen Nissan Micra India launch in 2019

According to media reports, Nissan is planning to launch the next-generation Micra in India in 2019.

The car's styling will be based on the fifth-generation Micra, which is currently on sale in Europe. The design package of the new Micra, codenamed K14, includes a completely redesigned front end with a V-shaped grille flanked by large headlights. A character line runs along the side of the vehicle and terminates into wraparound tail lamps.

The car also has new interiors with a sporty, three-spoke steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system and custom colour theme for the dashboard and upholstery.

The India-spec Micra is likely to be based on the CMF A+ platform rather than the V platform that underpins the Euro-spec version. The adoption of this platform for other products like the upcoming Nissan Sunny and localization of parts is expected to help the company to keep costs down.

The new Micra is expected to use a 1.5-litre, 106 BHP petrol engine paired with either an X-Tronic CVT or a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is no information about a possible diesel engine option yet.
