Rumour: Skoda Octavia vRS to launch after 2017 facelift

As per some media reports, Skoda will be launching the Octavia vRS in India soon after the launch of the 2017 Octavia facelift. No official announcement has yet been made by the Czech automaker regarding the vRS' scheduled India launch.

The Octavia vRS is essentially a high-performance version of the regular model. Skoda had first introduced the Octavia vRS in India back in 2004. It was available as a limited-edition model. However, the current-gen Octavia never received the vRS badge in the country. With the 2017 facelift just around the corner, Skoda appears to be bringing back the Octavia vRS to India.

In the international markets, the facelifted Octavia vRS is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 227 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. This engine is available with a 6-speed manual and a DSG automatic gearbox. It can complete the 0-100 km/h run in a company claimed time of 6.7 seconds, while the top speed is rated at 250 km/h.

Skoda has reportedly started accepting bookings of the 2017 Octavia facelift in the country. It is expected to launch in the third quarter of this year (June - September 2017).
