Rumour: Tata Altroz to get 100 BHP Turbo Petrol engine

According to a media report, the Tata Altroz is likely to get turbocharged petrol engine option sometime in 2020.

It is believed that the Altroz could be offered with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged unit producing 100 BHP and 140 Nm. It could be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The latter is likely to be a wet-clutch unit unlike the dry-clutch DCTs offered in the Hyundai Venue and Kia Seltos. Besides the more powerful engine, this version of the Altroz could also get a more sophisticated suspension setup.

The report suggests that the performance oriented Altroz could be launched around the festive season. It is likely to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS and Volkswagen Polo GT TSI.
