Rumour: Toyota Hyryder to rival Hyundai Creta in India

Maruti Suzuki will also have a Creta-rivalling product (codenamed: YFG) in its line-up.

Toyota along with its partner Maruti Suzuki is developing a new SUV that will compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Codenamed D22, the SUV has already been spotted testing on Indian roads and now a new report claims to have uncovered its official name.

According to the media report, Toyota's Creta rivalling SUV will be called 'Hyryder'. You may have heard this name as it was recently trademarked by the carmaker in India.

It is said that the Toyota Hyryder will be based on a localized version of the TNGA-B platform. The SUV is likely to be offered with a self-charging hybrid powertrain.

Maruti Suzuki will also have a Creta-rivalling product in its line-up soon. Codenamed YFG, the new model will share its underpinnings with the Hyryder but will have a distinct identity. Reports also suggest that the YFG could replace the S-Cross in Maruti's product range.
