Tata's upcoming large hatchback (codename: 45X) was seen at a petrol pump in Coimbatore, sporting what appears to be production-spec bodywork.

At first glance, the 45X looks like a slightly larger version of the Tiago. It has a similar side profile, window line and front fascia. The car appears to have a slim front grille flanked by sweptback headlamps. The front bumper has a wide air dam and a set of fog lamps placed just below the headlamp clusters. At the rear, the car gets a rear wiper and wraparound tail lamps. The rear license plate is mounted lower down on the bumper. The test vehicle is riding on silver 4-spoke alloy wheels.

The Tata 45X hatchback is rumoured to get a re-tuned 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine from the Nexon. It might also be offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine.

The Tata 45X is expected to compete with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno in the premium hatchback segment.
