Skoda said it would send its recently launched Kylaq compact SUV for the Bharat NCAP crash safety evaluation. While the company is targeting a 5-star safety rating for the new model, the crash test results are expected to be announced in February 2025.
Skoda India brand director, Petr Janeba, said that the Kylaq will undergo crash testing in the hands of Bharat NCAP. The results are expected to be announced sometime in February 2025, a little after the model hits dealerships in late January.
The Skoda Kylaq is based on the MQB A0-IN platform. It also underpins the Slavia and Kushaq models, which have already received a 5-star rating from Global NCAP. Like its stablemates, the Kylaq, too comes equipped with several advanced safety features, such as 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, ISOFIX, three-point seat belts and headrests for all occupants.
The Kylaq is priced between Rs 7.89 lakh and Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom). The compact SUV is powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 113 BHP and 178 Nm. It is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
