Skoda Slavia 1.5 DSG's gear selector button hard: Normal or Concerning?

Could this be an issue, this has really got me worried as I have had absolutely zero issues with the car in the past 9 months/18.5k kms.

BHPian Shanksta recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

I faced a weird issue today just an hour back as I parked my car at home. I have a 1.5 DSG, when I tried putting the car in park, the gear selector knob/button which used to feel smooth and well weighed to press, felt like it could not be pressed beyond the halfway mark and as I tried to put the car in P it kept stopping at R. Then after a few attempts it felt fine. Then again after parking I tried pressing the button a few times and it again got stuck.

To give a perspective it feels like pulling/pressing the trigger of a cheap plastic toy gun and feels like it’s stuck.

Has anyone faced this issue ? I have the habit of putting the car in P whenever I stop even for a few seconds, not sure if its an overuse of pressing the shift knob that the springs inside or something has gone bad already. I know that it’s better to put the car in N when stopping briefly at signals, etc., but I always end up putting the car in P. Could this be an issue, this has really got me worried as I have had absolutely zero issues with the car in the past 9 months/18.5k kms.

Here's what BHPian navinkamath4657 had to add to this matter:

Hello Shanksta,

Hope you are doing well.

I had and continue to have this issue since a while now. Had put it up in this slavia forum too. But seems like not many have experienced it. I too felt the button tight and somewhat not easy to press. Though the gear shifts have been fine. Discussed it with a friend who works at skoda showroom and he mentioned it can be the dsg selector button. Which is known to become hard as days go. He also told its a easy replacement too.

One another thing that I noticed is a lil jerk which happens in D2 and D3 while accelerating. It's not reproducible and not consistent either.
