Tata to boost India's EV charging network to 4 lakh charge points

Tata.ev has signed an MoU with Tata Power, ChargeZone, Statiq and Zeon to set up 500 Tata.ev Mega Chargers in 2 years.

Tata Motors has announced its ‘Open Collaboration 2.0’ initiative to expand India’s charging infrastructure. The company is partnering with key Charging Point Operators (CPOs) to install the Tata.ev Mega Charger network.

Since 2023, Tata Motors, along with CPOs and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), has been setting up EV chargers at key hotspots, especially along highways. As a result, the number of public charging points in India has more than doubled in just 15 months, surpassing 18,000 chargers. The company has also installed over 1.5 lakh private/home chargers, 2,500 community chargers and 750 chargers at Tata dealerships across 200+ cities.

Tata Motors aims to make EVs more accessible and convenient by more than doubling the number of available charge points to 4,00,000 by 2027. Under the new initiative, CPOs will install 30,000 new public charging points. These will support all EV brands.

Tata.ev has also signed an MoU with Tata Power, ChargeZone, Statiq and Zeon to set up 500 Tata.ev Mega Chargers in 2 years. In the first phase, these superfast chargers will be deployed across key cities and on major highways. The Mega Chargers will be open to all EVs, but Tata customers will get priority access. Customers will be able to track and pay for the Mega Chargers via the IRA.ev app.
