Tata demonstrates Hexa-based autonomous tech in the UK

View Forum Discussion

The Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC), which based in Coventry, UK, has completed trials of its Tata Hexa-based autonomous vehicle technology.

TMETC was part of the UK Autodrive project co-founded by Innovate UK. Its aim was to explore the impact of Autonomous, Connected, Electric and Shared (ACES) technology in a safe and controlled setting. 15 partners including OEMs, engineering businesses, academia and councils had collaborated for this purpose.

The UK has published a code of practice for testing autonomous vehicles safely and legally. This allowed TMETC to put their autonomous technologies including Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Green Light Optimal Speed Advisory (GLOSA) and Electronic Emergency Brake Light (EEBL) to the test.

TMETC plans to introduce ADAS functionalities in its road cars in a phased manner.
