Tata Nano Pelican spied; Interior revealed

Tata Nano's awaited update which is codenamed Pelican was spotted on the outskirts of Pune under camouflage. The car would be based on the Nano platform and positioned between the GenX Nano and the Tiago.

In terms of exteriors, front and rear bumpers are similar to the current GenX Nano. The car features bigger 13 inch wheels rather than the 12 inch wheels on the current model. There are slight modifications in the headlight and the bonnet shape. One major change is the position of the fuel fill inlet which has been moved from under the bonnet to the right hand side rear quarter panel. The single arm wiper design is replaced by the double arm wiper design, though still having only a single wiper. The windshield washer spray nozzle is now a separate unit on the bonnet, instead of it being integrated with the wiper arm.

The interiors have gone through major changes with an all new dashboard and seats. The instrument cluster no longer sits in the center of the dashboard, but has been moved to the more conventional position behind the steering wheel. The steering wheel and the side air conditioner vents are similar to the ones on the GenX Nano. Some features from the Tiago like the central AC vents, and the Harman ConnectNext infotainment system have been carried along.

The car may feature a 3-cylinder engine producing 60 BHP or 80 BHP and will be pitted against the likes of the Alto 800, Renault Kwid, Hyundai Eon and the Datsun RediGO.
