Uber Robotaxi services launched in Abu Dhabi; Partners with WeRide

Prices for the autonomous vehicle will be equivalent to UberX and Uber Comfort rides.

According to reports, international ride-hailing platform, Uber, has launched Robotaxi services in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi is the first international effort from Uber to make autonomous vehicles from different operators available on its platform. The introduction of the Robotaxi service in Abu Dhabi is part of Uber's partnership with WeRide.

Customers in Abu Dhabi will now get the option to book an autonomous vehicle from WeRide. Initially, these vehicles will have safety drivers, however, Uber & WeRide aim to provide driverless vehicles sometime in 2025. Prices for the autonomous vehicle will need to be paid upfront and equivalent to UberX and Uber Comfort rides.

The WeRide autonomous vehicles in Abu Dhabi are available to customers via the TXAI app.

Uber announced its partnership with WeRide - a Chinese startup, last year. WeRide holds driverless operation permits in UAE, Singapore, China and the USA. However, Uber isn't planning on extending its partnership with WeRide beyond the UAE.
