The car came back from Prayagraj friday night approx 11:30pm. A 2000km+ trip so the Mahindra team had no excuse there's not enough driving / usage to fully charge the battery.
Today, monday 4pm, I tested the battery and my battery charger showed approx 40% battery charge left. Mahindra team came approx 4:30pm and tested with their advanced battery tester which had a lot more functions. The tester showed "unstable battery" and "system noise" for 15+ attempts over 20 mins and the team was about to leave when we decided to test the tester itself in my skoda. The tester worked on the skoda and after that when connected to the XUV it worked without giving any errors. The battery tester used by mahindra also showed 40% battery charge left. Hydrometer showed specific gravity in each cell was ok.
So, approximately 50-60% battery has been discharged in less than 3 days. At this rate another 10-12 days and the doors won't open. Mahindra has decided to take a few more readings over the next 10 days and the next is scheduled for this friday.
To add to this, car was with Mahindra in sep for around 10 days which means I missed the weekly battery topup I do every weekend. The battery died at the workshop and had to be charged by the Mahindra team - so this is something that has happened at the workshop also but they just ignore all this.
4th battery in 3 years and 3 months.
In contrast, my skoda hasn't been used for 3 weeks and still had 40% battery left as per the tester. And it has a 24x7 parking monitor enabled dashcam wired to the fusebox as well as telematics / gps just like the XUV ! I showed the trips the skoda made in the app and the car wasn't used for 3 weeks but no issues with the battery at all.
I hope Mahindra can diagnose and resolve the battery drain. Car has spent 7-8 months at the dealership in last 3 years just for battery drain diagnosis but they keep returning the car to me with one excuse or the other. This time, because of the 2000km Del-Prayagraj return trip there were no excuses left !
