Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I took my XUV300 to Provincial motors for a routine service. I have been going to them since the time of my Scorpio classic. Normally as per my experience with them has been good as compared to Unati Motors.

This time the SA took my vehicle and the entire time he didnt tell me that he has a backlog from previous day and will not be able to deliver my vehicle the same day by evening. After everything was prepared and while doing inspection he mentioned it. I asked him to cancel my serivce booking as i am not comfortable leaving my vehicle overnight.

Also i asked him why are they taking service booking when they have such a huge backlog. Pause booking for a day and clear all backlogs but he has no answer.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Update on the battery discharging.

The car came back from Prayagraj friday night approx 11:30pm. A 2000km+ trip so the Mahindra team had no excuse there's not enough driving / usage to fully charge the battery.
Today, monday 4pm, I tested the battery and my battery charger showed approx 40% battery charge left. Mahindra team came approx 4:30pm and tested with their advanced battery tester which had a lot more functions. The tester showed "unstable battery" and "system noise" for 15+ attempts over 20 mins and the team was about to leave when we decided to test the tester itself in my skoda. The tester worked on the skoda and after that when connected to the XUV it worked without giving any errors. The battery tester used by mahindra also showed 40% battery charge left. Hydrometer showed specific gravity in each cell was ok.

So, approximately 50-60% battery has been discharged in less than 3 days. At this rate another 10-12 days and the doors won't open. Mahindra has decided to take a few more readings over the next 10 days and the next is scheduled for this friday.
To add to this, car was with Mahindra in sep for around 10 days which means I missed the weekly battery topup I do every weekend. The battery died at the workshop and had to be charged by the Mahindra team - so this is something that has happened at the workshop also but they just ignore all this.
4th battery in 3 years and 3 months.

In contrast, my skoda hasn't been used for 3 weeks and still had 40% battery left as per the tester. And it has a 24x7 parking monitor enabled dashcam wired to the fusebox as well as telematics / gps just like the XUV ! I showed the trips the skoda made in the app and the car wasn't used for 3 weeks but no issues with the battery at all.

I hope Mahindra can diagnose and resolve the battery drain. Car has spent 7-8 months at the dealership in last 3 years just for battery drain diagnosis but they keep returning the car to me with one excuse or the other. This time, because of the 2000km Del-Prayagraj return trip there were no excuses left !

Hi, May I know how much does the dealer bill you for the 17" alloys?

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Today is the 6th day since the car came back from kumbh. Battery down to last 10-20% zone as per my battery tester. Basis my past experience, if I don't charge the battery it will deep discharge in the next 5-7 odd days and even the electric door handles won't open after a week. Have shared a video with the Mahindra team. Waiting for them to come to home and check the battery charge status on their tester. Will keep the vehicle parked till the battery dies completely.

This is a BRAND NEW battery, just a month old. Car ran more than 2000kms Delhi to Prayagraj and back so there's really no excuse for the battery to be so deeply discharged in such a small time.

Fourth battery in 3 years. Mahindra needs to improve their ability to diagnose and fix issues. Vehicle has been at the workshop for 8 odd months in last 3 years just for diagnosing the battery drain / warranty claim for the battery !

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Mahindra team checked the battery at my house. The specific gravity of one cell was in deep red zone while 2 other cells were touching the red zone indicating the battery was about to get deep discharged very soon.

They will come after 2-3 days to check status of battery again by when my guess is more cells will be red using the hydrometer

Deep discharge within 6 days of idling !

This is quite strange. Which year was your car manufactured?
Mine was manufactured in 2021 and delivered in 2022.

At this point, it’s all about luck. Let them inspect it—maybe someone will finally identify the root cause. At the same time, please consider getting it checked by an independent mechanic. I know you don’t want anyone else working on your car, but having it inspected externally is different from letting someone repair it.
Please have it checked outside to diagnose the issue. Maybe an independent expert will be able to pinpoint the problem and resolve it completely.
On a side note, I’m away for about 5–6 months at a time, and whenever I return, my car starts in a single push without any issues.

I've been through so many issues that I can't even explain. My Primary car has been sitting in the service center for the past 14 days.
In the last two months alone, my car has spent at least 22 days at the service center. To address various issues, I have visited the service center more than 20 times since taking delivery (both officially recorded and unrecorded visits).

Maybe we ended up with defective units—Lemons—that Mahindra hasn’t been able to rectify. You’ll probably receive the same response I’ve been getting: "We’re looking into it, and it’s normal for all cars." But deep down, they all know there’s an underlying issue they just can’t identify.
To make matters worse, service centers are overcrowded because Mahindra hasn’t opened enough facilities to handle the increasing number of customers.
Mr. Anand Mahindra should seriously consider taking accountability and extending the warranty for cars with recurring issues like ours.
I hope Mahindra takes a strong stance on this matter so that, one day, we can proudly say that Mahindra is far superior to Toyota.

It's all about delivering justice to the customers who have placed their faith in Mahindra and invested their hard-earned money, trusting the brand.

Did you already try putting the car in "service mode" from the "Settings" menu? It disables remote functions and some telematics. It is worth a try and no skin off your back.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi. Mine is AX7L D MT.
Last week I took my car out for some shopping and the overall drive was not more than 10kms. After reaching home and parking the car I noticed a burning smell near the rear tyre. I found nothing wrong with the tyre and no rubbing marks. I thought smell may be because of the diesel burning which was sprayed during the under body wash earlier in the day. After that I did not take out the car for a week.
Today I started for a place almost 30km away. About halfway distance while I stopped at the traffic light one auto driver knocked on my window glass. When I lowered the glass he told me your rear break is jammed and smoking. Immediately I got down and checked. It is True. Some tell tale smoke was coming but before I could check clearly for the source it stopped. It felt very hot near the tyre.
I called the service engineer and reported the issue. I told him smoke has stopped. He asked me whether tyre itself is rotating or not. I told him I have to check by driving again. He advised me to check and if it is rotating normally, to drive back home albeit at a very slow speed. Even RSA will do nothing on road side other than picking the vehicle and delivering it to ASC. No repair will be attempted anyway.
I found tyre was rotating ok and drove back with speed not exceeding 30kmph. Kept on checking for smoke in rear view mirror but did not see any. After reaching home again I felt little bit of heat near the break but less than earlier. Could it be case of cylinder or break pad jam? I did not find anything abnormal with the way it handled in those 15 kms onward drive in terms of acceleration etc. Because I was driving in traffic the speed was never more than 60 max.
I will know when I take it tomorrow to ASC.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hello BHPians,

I’ve recently returned from London after 2 years and is on the lookout for a new car for myself.

I am considering purchasing the Mahindra XUV700 Petrol MT AX7 in 2025 and wanted to check if it is still a good buy. Given the evolving market, I have a few concerns:
1. Reliability & Ownership Experience – Have there been any long-term reliability concerns with the petrol manual variant?
2. Fuel Efficiency – How is the real-world fuel efficiency in city and highway conditions?
3. Driving Dynamics – Is the petrol manual still a fun-to-drive option compared to newer competitors?
4. Market Alternatives – With new launches in 2024-25, are there better alternatives in this segment?
5. Software & Features – Has Mahindra resolved any initial software glitches?

I previously owned a Harrier XZ and hence the XUV is quite a huge leap in terms of features and technology in the car.

Would love to hear insights from existing owners or those who have evaluated this model recently. Thanks in advance!

This makes absolutely no sense for me as a customer to do such things everytime I park my vehicle. I bought the car to drive it as a normal vehicle, not as a space ship requiring special shutdown processes which I need to teach both my drivers, my dad and my wife !
Enabling service mode every time it is parked and disabling it manually every time I switch on the car is too much to expect from a customer if this is the solution.

9th day today and the battery is almost dead. Another week and the doors won't open. Workshop is clueless as always

I bought my XUV700 mid last year and happy with it. It's a Diesel MT. Only once I had the media display go blank for a day. It was stuck in a boot sequence when I started it in the morning that day and stayed that way thru a 300km trip. Only to turn On the next morning as if nothing happened.
Mahindra is known for niggles in its new models, but they keep improving over time. From 2021 to 2025 it has matured a lot.

So the question, is XUV700 good today?
My answer is yes and it is still relevant for a 6/7 seater for its design and features. It is fun to drive too.

If you are looking for performance and are not bothered with mileage then Petrol XUV700 is great car. The interiors also feel better. I can vouch for this after sitting in Scorpio-N and XUV700 back to back. Scorpio-N has good interiors but you get somewhat more premium feeling inside XUV700 AX7 variants. There are no drive modes in Petrol so you are always in performance mode.

I remember reading in our forum that XUV700 Petrol MT is only E10 compliant while Petrol automatic is E20 compliant. This was about an year or so back. I am not sure and have talked with 2-3 dealerships and none have been able to confirm if XUV700 Petrol MT is E10 or E20 compliant.

I understand your frustration, but you are shooting the messenger here
I was just trying to see if shutting down the remote functions/ telematics gives some respite, in which case ASC can troubleshoot on those lines.

The service center told me last year they tried disabling adrenox ( i am guessing service mode ) and there was no change in battery drain.

Car has spent almost 8 months at the service center and I am at my wit's end. Lesson learned - never buy a mahindra 1st gen product because if you have any less common issues the service center will never be able to diagnose and resolve it
