USA: 2019 Hyundai Elantra facelift revealed

The Hyundai Elantra has received a mid-cycle facelift. Apart from the restyled exterior and interior, the car gets a variety of active safety features. In the US, the new Elantra is offered in 6 trim levels - SE, SEL, Value Edition, Limited, Eco and Sport.

The 2019 Elantra gets a new front end with a large hexagonal grille flanked by triangular LED headlamp clusters with V-shaped integrated LED DRLs. The front bumper has been redesigned to incorporate triangular fog lamps. The car still has a coupe like side profile but the rear now features a new boot lid with new wraparound LED tail lights and a dual-tone bumper.

The new Elantra gets redesigned interiors with a new centre console featuring an 8.0 inch infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It has a 3-spoke multi-function steering and a twin-dial instrument cluster with a central MID. It comes with features like wireless charging, Bluetooth, an 8-speaker audio system and a rear view camera among others.

In the US market, the new Elantra gets 3 engine options. A 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine which makes 145 BHP @ 6,200 rpm and 179 Nm @ 4,500 rpm, a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol with 126 BHP @ 5,500 rpm and 212 Nm @ 1,400-3,700 rpm and a 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol which puts out 198 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 264 Nm @ 1,500-4,500 rpm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and 7-speed dual-clutch gearboxes. 

Some of the safety features offered on the new Elantra include Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Alert, Safe Exit Assist, Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Collision Warning with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change Assist.
