USA: Playing loud music in cars could attract a $114 fine

The regulations become stricter when in close proximity to churches, schools and hospitals.

The state of Florida, USA, has recently introduced a new law, which essentially makes playing loud music in cars illegal.

According to a media report, the new law came into effect on July 1st and allows the police to ticket drivers if their music is audible from a minimum 25-foot distance. The regulations become stricter when in close proximity to churches, schools and hospitals. This means that even the police sitting behind you in traffic can ticket you if they hear your car's music in their patrol vehicle.

Along with the loud music, the new law also took on the exhaust systems and vehicle mufflers. Reports suggest that such loud exhausts are not typically factory issued but a custom upgrade from the owner. Hence, police have been trained to identify illegal exhaust systems and issue citations to such drivers.

While some Florida locals have welcomed the move, stating it brings positive change to their comfort, safety and well-being, many motorists are not pleased, deeming it "a new revenue device for all law enforcement agencies in the state."
