Volkswagen's confusing 7-year warranty

Volkswagen has silently updated the terms and conditions of their 7-year Add-on warranty. Customers can opt for this only once after their regular / extended warranty expires.

In 2018, Volkswagen had introduced an Add-on extended warranty of up to 7 years / 1,25,000 km on all its models. It could be availed 30 days prior to the expiry of a valid warranty or up to 15 days after the warranty had expired. However, it has come to the attention of BHPians that his warranty can be purchased only once - e.g. if the car's warranty expires after 4 years, the add-on warranty can be purchased only for the 5th year. It is not possible to purchase the same for the subsequent 6th and 7th years despite being eligible for the same (under 1,25,000 km). BHPian Rajeevraj had got this warranty for the 6th and 7th year earlier this year.

Parts of the engine, components of manual and automatic gearboxes, suspension and steering, braking system, fuel system, diesel injection system, air-conditioning and cooling system, electrical system and oil seals are some of the components covered under this Add-on warranty.

Thanks to BHPian anshumandun and seedyk for sharing this with others.
