Volkswagen's first EV for India coming post-2025

VW's first electric car for India could be based on the ID.Life concept.

Klaus Zellmer, Board Member for Sales, Marketing and After Sales, Volkswagen, has confirmed that the carmaker is planning to introduce its first all-electric model in India post-2025.

During an interview, Zellmer stated that the company is in the process of electrifying its line-up. He also added that the first electric car for India will arrive in the second half of this decade.

Zellmer confirmed that instead of experimenting with ICE models, Volkswagen will invest in battery electric vehicles (BEVs) for India as it will be crucial to get the right product at the right cost.

While we still don't have the exact details of VW's all-electric car for India, it could be based on the ID.Life concept that was recently showcased at the IAA 2021 in Munich. The ID.Life is an electric crossover that uses a 234 BHP electric motor powered by a 57 kWh battery pack. It is said to offer a maximum range of 402 km.
