Why I feel Kylaq will bring Skoda the same popularity that Polo got VW

A very all-rounded German, that won't break the bank, can be used as a beater / secondary car, good to drive and will get many households into the brand.

Fantastic review Omkar.

I would like to share a few highlights from my time with the car:

  • The base model, while lacking in many features, is completely bang for its buck for the safety, engine and driving aspect alone. With a premium of just 1L for the AT, the Classic AT (if offered) would have be a massive disrupter.
  • I feel the Signature+ packs almost all the features that I would need in a car, except, perhaps, for the ventilated seats. Loved the fabric seats more than the faux leather.
  • Same engine as the Kushaq 1.0 AT, which my father-in-law drives, feels much more peppier in the Kylaq. Furthermore, the Kylaq's handling is more sharper/responsive & go-kart like than the Kushaq due to lesser weight and shorter overhangs.
  • Like other Germans, the Kylaq too will age very well. Just take the case of the Polos and the Octavias. They have aged very well and even now are a prime choice in the used car market. This price point will ensure good volume for Skoda and more importantly its dealers.
  • Finally, a very all-rounded German, that won't break the bank, can be used as a beater / secondary car, good to drive and will get many households into the brand.
  • I feel the Kylaq is going to get the same popularity to Skoda that Polo brought to Volkswagen.

Spent almost 10 days with the car. This is from where the above observations come from:
