I’ve enjoyed my Virtus since day one, whether on the stock map or after the Stage 1+ TOT remap.
BHPian superman99 recently shared this with other enthusiasts:
It’s taken a while, but I’m excited to finally share my experience with the Virtus 1.0 TSI AT after installing a Stage 1+ TOT tune and the PedalBox Pro.
Things I didn't like on a Stock Map: Virtus 1.0 TSI AT
- Noticeable turbo lag in 1st gear when manoeuvring in the city, especially below 10 km/h, with slow upshifts to 2nd gear.
- An aggressive launch occurs right after a cold start when the brake is released.
- Downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear results in a jolt at low speeds.
- Poor fuel economy in city traffic and on highways.
- 3rd and 4th gears feel underpowered when throttling down, which is expected for a three-cylinder engine.
Driving Impressions After TOT Stage 1+ Remap with PedalBox Pro
- Maneuvering in 1st gear is now smoother, with quicker upshifts at low speeds.
- The aggressive launch after a cold start has been fully resolved.
- The car tends to stay in 2nd gear at speeds below 5 km/h, which significantly reduces the jolt when downshifting from 2nd to 1st.
- Fuel efficiency has improved by 1.5 to 2 km/l in moderate city traffic and highways.
- There’s a noticeable increase in power in 3rd and 4th gears post-3000 RPM, compared to the stock settings.
- Launch control has been enabled.
- Throttle response is much sharper with the PedalBox Pro, making the car feel more lively, especially in urban settings.
Review of the PedalBox Pro on Virtus 1.0 TSI AT
- The PedalBox Pro enhances throttle response but doesn’t alter power delivery.
- It features four driving modes (Eco, City, Sport, and Sport+) with eight sensitivity levels for each mode.
- The City mode is ideal for both city and highway driving, making overtaking effortless. Sport and Sport+ modes are extremely sensitive and best suited for spirited driving, not for city use.
- I’ve noticed no impact on fuel efficiency when using City mode, but there’s a drop when using Sport and Sport+.
- There’s a valet mode that limits speed to 20 km/h, and you can switch off the throttle for added security—this is a really useful feature.
- The package includes a handy remote and an app compatible with both iOS and Android.
Considerations
- Warranty: Be aware that remapping and aftermarket modifications can void manufacturer warranties.
- Driving Conditions: Performance gains may vary based on factors like altitude and climate.
- Professional Installation: It's crucial to have the remap and PedalBox installed by professionals to avoid issues.
Conclusion
I’ve enjoyed my Virtus since day one, whether on the stock map or after the Stage 1+ TOT remap. After some research to address specific driving issues, I’m thrilled with how the remap has resolved all my concerns.
