Yamaha launches FZ and FZ-S Version 2.0 with fuel injection

Yamaha Motor India has launched the FZ Version 2.0 and FZ-S Version 2.0 motorcycles priced at Rs. 76,250 and Rs. 78,250 (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. The Version 2.0 models differ from the old FZ and FZ-S cosmetically as well as mechanically.

Visual changes include a new headlamp and tail lamp, restyled tank with pseudo air intakes, new exhaust, split seats and indicators. Additionally, there is an all-new digital instrument cluster with an Eco meter, a new grab-bar and new tyres. While the FZ is available in two colours - Panther Black and Scorching Red, the FZ-S comes in four - Astral Blue, Moonwalk White, Cyber Green and Molten Orange.

Suspension duties are taken care of by telescopic forks at the front and monoshocks at the rear. The bikes use a new light weight frame which Yamaha claims has helped in reducing their weights by 3 kg.

For the V2.0, Yamaha has replaced the carburettor with fuel injection and brought the engine capacity of the bikes from 153 cc to 149 cc. The power and torque have been lowered as well from 14 PS and 13.6 Nm to 13.1 PS and 12.8 Nm. The engine has been developed using Yamaha's Blue Core technology, and is said to be 14% more fuel efficient and produce lower emissions. The bikes continue to use a 5-speed transmission. Stopping power is provided by a disc brake at the front and drum at the rear. The FZ and FZ-S Version 2.0 have service intervals of 6,000 km.

Yamaha is targeting customers in the 18-30 years age bracket with the FZ and FZ-S range.
