Yamaha R15 v3.0 unveiled in Indonesia, specs revealed

Yamaha has unveiled the YZF-R15 v3.0 in Indonesia. The R15 is Yamaha's entry-level sportsbike, and is thus a volume seller for the Japanese manufacturer. The bike will first go on sale in Indonesia, while an India launch is expected to be scheduled in the second half of this year.

The updated R15 gets some cosmetic as well as mechanical updates. It is powered by a new 155.1 cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that churns out 19 BHP @ 10,000 rpm and 14.7 Nm of torque @ 8,500 rpm. As a result, the new model gets a power bump of around 2 BHP, as compared to the v2.0 R15. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission, while the bike also gets slipper clutch.

The new R15 has a fuel tank capacity of 11-litre, while its kerb weight is 137 kg. It is 1,990 mm long, 725 mm wide and has a height of 1,135 mm. The R15 v3.0 will be available in three colour options: Matte Black, Racing Blue and Matte Red.

Features on offer with the updated R15 include LED headlights, a fully digital instrument cluster, hazard lamp and USD forks at the front. Braking setup includes a 282 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm unit at the rear. However, the bike still doesn't get an ABS unit even as an option.
