Missed call: new booking initiative from EasyCabs

EasyCabs, a division of Carzonrent, has introduced a new method of booking its cabs.

All a customer is required to do is give a missed call on the company's customer care number, 43434343. Once done, a customer care executive will return the call, take down the customer's details  and confirm the booking. The company claims that this will reduce the inconvenience caused to the customer by eradicating the time required to wait in line for booking. Problems caused by call drop will also be reduced. EasyCabs is providing this facility free of charge.

Additionally, the company is adding 300 more cabs to its fleet in Mumbai, which will enable it to honour more bookings. EasyCabs has fitted their cars with LCD screens in the headrests of the front seats for the entertainment of passengers and GPS for their safety.

Customers can book cabs over the internet as well.

Mahindra Reva & CarzOnRent to offer self driven E2Os

Mahindra Reva has tied up with CarzOnRent, a cab operator with operations across many locations in India, to induct the E2O electric car as a self driven option. While CarzOnRent offers a range of self driven cars in India, the Mahindra Reva E2O will be the least priced option, at a daily rental of 800 rupees. The other self driven cars that CarzOnRent offers are: Toyota Etios (1,499 rupees/day), Toyota Innova (1,999 rupees/day), Maruti Suzuki Swift (1,199 rupees/day) and Mahindra XUV500 (2,499 rupees/day).

Initially, CarzOnRent will make the Reva E2O available as a self driven option in three Indian cities: Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai. Each city will have 5 E2Os made available. The self driven E2Os will be fully charged with a 100 Kilometer range and will also be available for renting on an hourly basis. Hourly renting of the E2O will cost 100 rupees/hour with a minimum charge of 225 rupees. CarzOnRent customers driving the E2O can recharge their cars at designated charging points situated at convenient locations across all three cities, free of cost. The service will begin from the 1st of October, 2013.

The Mahindra Reva E2O, a hotly anticipated product in the electric car space, has failed to gain traction at the hustings as most car buyers find the product overpriced. The Indian government is yet to dole out direct subsidies to electric car makers under the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) 2020 and this delay has resulted in the price of the E2O crossing the 7 lakh rupee mark in all cities except Delhi. In Delhi, the state government offers a direct subsidy on electric cars, one that has lowered the purchase price of the E2O.

By inducting the E2O as a self drive car in partnership with CarzOnRent, Mahindra-Reva will get additional visibility on city roads for its latest product. Also, prospective customers evaluating the E2O as their next buy will have the opportunity of driving the car for a full day and checking whether the car fits their needs. The electric car is powered by a 25.5 Bhp-53 Nm motor. The electric motor is powered by lithium ion batteries that can be charged to full capacity in 5 hours. The car is capable of delivering a range of 100 kilometers per charge, with a top speed of 81 Kph.
