Hero Motocorp trademarks Hurikan & Hurikan 440 names

Hero MotoCorp had also filed a trademark for the Nightster 440 nametag.

Hero MotoCorp has trademarked the Hurikan and Hurikan 440 name tags in India.

Hurikan 440 could be a future Hero bike based on the 440 platform. Whether it is Hero’s version of the Harley-Davidson X440 or a completely different model remains to be seen.

That being said, we can expect it to use the same 440cc single-cylinder engine as the X440. This unit makes 27 BHP and 38 Nm in its current configuration. Hero could tune it differently to suit the new bike.

The Harley-Davidson X440 was developed in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp. It is also the most affordable model in Harley’s range.

Earlier, Hero MotoCorp had also filed a trademark for the Nightster 440 nametag.

Hero testing new Xpulse and Xtreme with larger engines?

Some say, the bikes might use the 210cc engine from the Karizma XMR.

Hero MotoCorp may be working on a new variant of the Xpulse and a new streetfighter that could use the Xtreme nametag. Some reports suggest that the bikes might use the 210cc engine from the Karizma XMR, while others beg to differ.

The Xpulse test mule seen in these images looks smaller than the Xpulse 400 that was spotted earlier. Instead of an upside-down fork, these bikes are equipped with a conventional telescopic unit. The bike has an LED headlight and a raised front fender.

The other test bike featured in these images could be the Xtreme 210. It could be a streetfighter version of the Karizma XMR. It has large tank extensions, an upside-down front fork and alloy wheels.

The 210cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC engine that powers the Karizma XMR makes 25.15 BHP @ 9,250 rpm and 20.4 Nm @ 7,250 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slip-and-assist clutch. The jury is still out on whether the recently spotted test bikes have the same engine.

Motorcycle manufacturers are really at the top of the game when it comes to innovative invitations, PR & Communications and thinking out of the box. They completely destroy car manufacturers who can be quite staid, boring & traditional in this area!

Earlier this year, I had posted about the very cool invite from Harley-Davidson.

Got a really stylish-looking package the other day. Love the colours & the style. But that's not the best part. When I opened it, here's what happened. Well done, Hero Team. If your intention was to stand out, impress & make it unforgettable, well, mission accomplished.
