Rumour: Features of the Skoda Kushaq

Some of the features that could be offered in the Kushaq have been revealed.

The Skoda Kushaq crossover will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform, which is also shared with the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun. The SUV will be unveiled in March 2021 and is likely to be more expensive than the Taigun.

The base variant of the Kushaq is likely to get a 7.0-inch head-unit and 4 speakers, while the top-end variant will get a 10-inch head-unit and a subwoofer in the boot. It could also be equipped with a cooled glove box and ventilated seats. The SUV is also likely to get a sunroof, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It might miss out on a panoramic sunroof and 360-degree camera. Safety features include ESP (on the automatic), 4 airbags as standard, and 6 airbags on the top-end variant.

In India, the Kushaq will be offered with two turbo-petrol engines. These include a 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI, while transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and 7-speed DSG.

Images of pre-production Skoda Kushaq crossover released

The Kushaq will be offered with two turbo-petrol engine options.

Skoda has released official images of the pre-production Kushaq crossover, which is scheduled to make its global debut in March 2021.

The Kushaq will be based on the locally developed Modulare Querbaukasten (MQB) A0 IN platform. The crossover has a wheelbase of 2,651 mm and is the first product developed under the India 2.0 project.

The images indicate that the design of the Kushaq is heavily inspired by the Vision IN Concept that was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. The crossover has the brand's familiar front fascia with LED headlights and daytime running lights. It has crisp lines on the sides and LED tail lights. The car also gets roof rails and it rides on 5-spoke alloy wheels.

In terms of features, the Kushaq will be equipped with a touchscreen infotainment head-unit, automatic climate control, up to 6 airbags, ESC, Hill-Hold Control, rain and light sensors, cruise control an tyre pressure monitoring system.

In India, the Kushaq will be offered with two turbo-petrol engine options. These include a 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI engines. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic and 7-speed DSG.

Skoda Kushaq teased on website

The SUV, which is expected to be launched later this year, was christened earlier this month.

Earlier this month, Skoda christened their upcoming SUV based on the Vision IN concept as the Kushaq. The SUV has now been teased on the brand's Indian website.

The Kushaq is the first vehicle designed and developed under the purview of the 'India 2.0' project. It will be based on the locally developed MQB A0 IN platform. The SUV could be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 148 BHP and 250 Nm. This engine could be offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Lower variants could get a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine mated with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

According to the teased image, the Kushaq could be unveiled in the summer of 2021.
