Pictures from my visit to the Shelby Headquarters & Count Kustoms

A surprisingly small display area, filled with priceless original Shelby creations.

BHPian AKTransAM recently shared this with other enthusiasts.

This is another of the really cool spots we stopped off at on our recent road trip (the previous thread was the Pomona Swap Meet). We ended the trip for the weekend in Las Vegas, and on the last day we stopped off at Shelby headquarters to check it out. It's actually a surprisingly small display area but filled with priceless original Shelby creations. The really large area behind the display area and store is the work bay. Very neat place to check out! The other place we stopped off at was Counts Kustoms (from the show Counting Cars if you've watched it). This place was even tinier, but neat since it's actually his workshop area with a small display of their cars.

Shelby Trust wins Eleanor Mustang copyright lawsuit

This finally puts an end to the long-standing legal concern of owners with a Shelby GT500 and others.

The iconic 1967 Mustang GT500, named 'Eleanor' from the movie 'Gone in 60 Seconds', has long been in the midst of a copyright lawsuit. Now, latest reports state that Shelby Trust has won the case, allowing them to license all Eleanor-style GT500 builds.

Denise Shakarian Halicki, the widow of HB Halicki - creator of Gone in 60 Seconds, had filed multiple lawsuits against any Eleanor replicas and had even gone as far as shutting down individual project builds. She also filed a lawsuit against Caroll Shelby, whose company, Shelby American, created the GT500 on which the custom Mustang was built around. She claimed that "Eleanor" was a character in its own right, and any build inspired by the car would be a commercial copy of the character.

However, the courts ruled against her, stating that the characterization of the car was "an invention of overzealous advocacy".

With the Shelby Trust now getting the freedom to license the Eleanor-inspired GT500 builds, the company released a statement confirming that Mrs Halicki now has no right to complain or file a lawsuit upon the looks of any car licensed by the company. This finally puts an end to the long-standing legal concern of owners with a Shelby GT500 and others.

2015 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R revealed!

Ford has officially revealed the "most race-ready road-legal Mustang ever". Christened the Shelby GT350R, the limited edition pony car is aimed at outright performance and features design changes to make it lighter, more agile and more powerful.

Beginning with the weight savings, Ford has removed the air conditioning, infotainment system, rear seats, trunk floorboard and carpet, backup camera and emergency tire sealer and inflator. An optional Electronics Package is available to add such creature comforts. The exhaust resonators have also been removed to make it easier on the scales, while providing a sharper exhaust tone. The GT350R also gets carbon fibre wheels as standard, wrapped around by Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. Ford says changes such as these ones, have made the GT350R nearly 59 kgs lighter than the Shelby GT350 Track Pack model.

Aerodynamics have been improved with a revised hood vent, aggressive diffuser, carbon fibre rear spoiler, vented wheel wells, turbulence-reducing fender vents, wheel air curtains and side skirts.

The GT350R is powered by a 5.2-litre DOHC V8 engine and is the first-ever production V8 from Ford with a flat-plane crankshaft. This is the most powerful naturally aspirated motor Ford has ever made, with output figures coming in at over 500 bhp and 542 Nm of torque. Transmission duties are carried out by a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Exterior styling cues include red brake calipers, red pin striping at the edges of the optional over-the-top racing stripes and Shelby GT350R badging. On the inside, the car gets high-contrast red stitching, Shelby GT350R badging and the D-shaped steering wheel fitted with a red center mark at the top.

The market launch of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R will take place later in 2015.
