Mercedes-AMG SL55 Roadster launched at Rs 2.35 crore

The 7th generation SL features a fabric top that can be retracted in 15 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz has launched the AMG SL55 Roadster in India at a price of Rs 2.35 crore (ex-showroom). The 7th generation SL will be imported into the country via the CBU route.

The Mercedes-AMG SL55 is a 2-door convertible that comes with a retractable fabric roof. The roof can be opened or closed in 15 seconds at speeds of up to 60 km/h. The car features aggressive yet stylish triangular headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights and a low-slung Panamericana grille.

The rear fascia comprises a set of sleek LED taillights that sit flush with the bodywork and an adjustable spoiler. This being the hot AMG version, it gets quad exhausts and rides on 20-inch alloy wheels as standard.

Inside, the SL55 comes with AMG performance seats with Alcantara upholstery and carbon fibre trim. The roadster is equipped with an 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting and a head-up display.

Powering the SL55 is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that makes 469 BHP and 700 Nm. The engine is mated with a 9-speed automatic transmission and Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel drive system. It is also the first roadster to get rear-axle steering as standard. Mercedes claims a 0-100 km/h time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 295 km/h.

Mercedes-AMG SL55 to be launched in India on June 22

Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch the SL55 AMG in India on June 22, 2023.

The SL is Mercedes's flagship convertible. It is currently in its seventh generation and will be imported into India as a completely built unit (CBU).
