Permanent Solution would be Relay.

8. Sound quality is already better than the Eclipse. Will keep a write up ready on that.

Eagerly waiting for it.

That's it for now. Enjoying the system. Very reliable. Very stable. Loving it!
Congrats. Pls do Post some pics.

Re: An Audiophile Computer in the making: frankmehta's Fiesta S

The screen is here. Photos soon.

pS: the power supply should be here in the coming week. So are the new amps and the new woofers (for the front stage)
I am pinning a lot of hopes on the power supply. It is supposed to be the BEST power supply money can buy. Known to be pretty robust. Let's see how it goes.

Its been a long long while since I posted anything here. Rightly so because the project was slightly stalled and shelved due to a very stupid reason. Time. I just did not have the time and energy to combat the multiple issues that were cropping up towards the end of last month.
There came a time where there was no music in my car for three months and my family and fiancée (I also got engaged recently. Explains the lack of time further ) even said stuff like " this project is a failure. Yu should shelve it and get a conventional head unit"
I almost called it off, considering there was zero entertainment in the car for so long. Was looking at the alpines and eclipses for dual din units.
Then..... I just decided on one Saturday. Its today or never. If it works, then great. If it doesn't, the carputer is going to the Classifieds.
By works, I mean it is supposed to sound good.
Fired up the computer, installed windows 7 and all the other essentials required to power the audio. Centrafuse, audiomulch, virtual audio cable and asio4all
Connected the cables, installed the drivers for the touchscreen and fired her up.
Couldn't believe my freeeeeeaaaking ears. The music from my carputer was finally playing like the way I expected it to. Good quality, loud and super separation of instruments.
Time alignment and eq still remained but I wasn't bothered. My car was already sounding fabulous without any tweaking.
Ten minutes and I had an abrupt shutdown. I was soooooooooo livid.
VERY peeved, I checked and doubke checked absolutely everything. Software, hardware all ok.
Restarted again. Two minutes and again poooof.
I gave up. Wrapped up and went home. Failure again
Called up Ajay. Went to meet him. He said to call his PC God, LBM.
Spoke to LBM and we arrived at a conclusion that its thermal failure. At his behest I checked the temperature. Rightly so, the poor i3 processor was overheating at 104°
Went to check and found out that the heatsink and fan over the processor was loose. Banged my head against the wall (I had assembled the PC myself so I deserved the blame solely)
Secured the heatsink and fan and started up the PC with crossed fingers and voila. It worked. Totally had tears in my eyes. My carputer sounded awesome AND stayed on for hours without shutting down
I've since then, driven 400 km in sweltering heat and the puter is just fine
Noooooow we're talking. Great equipment. Super install and finally, an almost perfect audio source.
The system sounds absolutely angelic without any tweaks with the stars of the show being the dynaudio mids without a doubt. They just shine through among the other promising star filled equipment.
I am floored by the flexibility of the system in terms of tuning and expansion and love that feeling when people sit in the car and are overwhelmed by seeing a huge screen boot up windows 7.
Eagerly waiting to hear your comments and answer questions, if any.

Re: frank'S'mehta ICES his Fiesta: A Carputer in Progress

The same amount of time as a fullly loaded head unit like the Alpine and Kenwood double dins.
10-15 seconds. The most time it took was 40-45 seconds when I hadn't restarted the PC for days. A simple restart solved it.

Hey Frank, it is really good to know that you are enjoying the music and things have turned out the way you wanted it to be.

Please post some PICS of the horns and the way you have installed them and the install pics of the amp and things..

Re: An Audiophile Computer in the making: frankmehta's Fiesta S

Guys, I am having a FANTASTIC time with the carputer and the car IS definitely sounding the best it has EVER sounded. The computer now boots windows 7 and I am absolutely floored by the quality of audio from the computer. Using it purely for audio as of now and GPS and other stuff is installed but haven't used it even once yet. LOL.

Anyway, I wanted to ask you guys. I am going to publish a FULL ON tutorial for you people, to have an audiophile computer in your car. The software part, and a little about the hardware part. Do you want me to publish it here, or do you want me to open a new thread for it in the Ask the Gurus section??
It will be a one-stop shop for audio tuning via a computer and will have a lot of technical jargon. Like a ready reckoner. Let me know, guys. I will post it then.

Re: frank'S'mehta ICES his Fiesta: A Carputer in Progress

Pics will come up soon guys. The horns are still not mounted in the car.
Using an entry level Focal tweeter set in my car right now. Horns going in on monday or tuesday (maybe a day or two here and there) after which I shall clean up the car (yes, it's a mess with lots of clutter and computer ancillaries in the boot) and post some good worthwhile photos.
