phones adjust the power they emit depending upon the reception they get. if the headset acts as an antenna (which I doubt in the first place, because actual antenna is insulated from every other thing that it comes in contact with), it will actually reduce the power since it gets a better reception.

Contemporary cellphones have so many radios in them

Antennas are needed for all the various radio transmitters and receivers implemented in the mobile phone. And some of these are necessarily different from each other.
  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE gaussian min-shift keying (900 MHz/1800 MHz) radio transmitter-receiver used for voice and SMS.
  • GPS (1.57542 GHz) L1 signal receiver used for navigation.
  • Bluetooth frequency-hopping spread spectrum (2.40-2.48 GHz) radio transmitter-receiver used for data communication.
  • 802.11 WiFi (2.4 GHz) transmitter-receiver used for data communication.
  • FM stereo receiver (VHF 87.5 to 108.0 MHz)
AFAIK, only the FM stereo receiver uses the earphone wires as a receiving antenna in some phones. It is useless as an antenna for the other radios above.

5230 users, can you let me know if your handset supports video calls.
To check this: dial a number, options --> call --> video call

Not yet on 3g ... Just wanted to check if the phone has support for video call.
I am on the lookout for a new phone, narrowed down to this during my search.

5230 doesn't have front facing camera.

yes sir... I came across that. But browsed somewhere that you can make video calls using the back camera.
Anybody has 5230 here.
The other alternative is c5.

Requesting info - SE W995 vs. SE Aino

Am on the lookout for a Sony Ericsson slider phone. After a shallow research based on my priorities, I've zeroed in on the W995 and Aino. From the reviews, both are on par. The former was my initial choice, but now I've included Aino as well.
  • I heard from The Mobile Store that W995 is out of production. Is this true?
  • Regarding Aino, is it bang for the buck, or another buggy phone from SE? Aino users, please oblige
  • What are the contents of the W995 and Aino sales packages?
SE is nowhere close to Nokia when it comes to releasing firmware updates and if you end up with a phone with a buggy firmware, better to change the phone. That's my experience with W910i.

I had a chance to play around with both N8 and iphone 4 back to back last weekend. The N8 although is great change from the regular Nokia stuff is still very basic compared to the iphones.

I could not see the N8 much different from the N97. Just better looking and faster phone. The N8 cam is awesome, I could get nice images and videos. Low light images also looked nice. I think thats the highlight of the phone. The iphone was a world of a difference.

Since I am all out Nokia guy, I will certainly upgrade to the N8 or the E7(when it comes) from my current E72

It will reduce power only upto some threshold. And the finding (reliable or otherwise) is that even at the reduced power level the radiation being directed at the head is equal or more intense than what you will be exposed to by holding the phone right against your ear.

Have you tried copying the Win Contacts to Outlook and then syncing the Jack?
