Have you tried to unpair it from your phone and repair it?

Also, are you using the Realme Link app - If yes, try to remove the earphones from there and add it again.
If not, install the same and pair your earphones through that.
Have been using Pro 5 and pro 4. Any issues I face with them, generally fiddle around through the Realme Link app to solve it

Thanks. In fact I uninstalled the app and connected the ear buds directly. And it works perfectly now.

Curved edge display glass protection

I am using the Moto Edge 40 which does not come with a gorilla glass screen AND has a display that curves at the left and right edge. And this design makes it a huge pain in the back when it comes to screen protectors. There are three options.

1. Curved normal adhesive tempered glass
2. Curved UV cured tempered glass
3. Hydrogel, aka, TPU film(kind of ppf for screen).

The first two options are a hit or a miss. The normal adhesive glass has never fit cleanly. There are lot of air pockets that cannot be eliminated. The UV cured adhesive ones fit better but are a huge pain to remove once the glue is cured. The hardened glue makes to very difficult to remove the damaged tempered glass.

The third one is good. But since it is not a glass, it starts peeling at the edges if the phone has a case which covers edge to edge. There is no impact protection and is prone to distortion.

I think curved edge displays are a bad idea if the phone screen does not come with Gorilla glass. I have spent around 2k rupees trying different screen protectors and am not satisfied with any. I will not buy a curved display phone ever!

Dear Sagar,

I've been using curved display phones since Jan'24. The Hydrogel TPU film will not protect the screen from drops. It's better to avoid.

I would say use the UV screen protector. The newer generation glues don't stick to the displays that earlier ones were used to as per the claim from my recent installer. It can be removed easily. Also please request the installer to use as little glue as possible so that it will not damage the internals.

As far as normal adhesive tempered glass is concerned it comes with a glue strip in the edges only. It will be removed with the slightest effort. It's better to avoid.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Our maids daughter is starting college and she needs to get a phone for her. We decided to buy and gift it. Our maid has no clue about any of this and left it to us to get a 'good phone'. No input from the daughter also.

We fixed a budget of 10-15k and as expected there are tons of models in this space. I have not followed this space for a long time and the choices have overwhelmed me. 2 models I kind of shortlisted were the Redmi 13C 5G and the iQOO Z9 Lite 5G.

Any other recommendations?

I have been using curved display phones since S7 Edge came (2016), S10+ and S23 Ultra. Haven't installed any screen guard other than the TPU film which came with display till last month. I got normal Tempered glass from local shop costing 450, struggling with air bubbles and fingerprint not recognised. Thinking of switching back to TPU film due to ease of use. Since 2016, I have faced screen damage once on S10+ since it fell from shirt pocket. no other issues till now!!

CMF phone 1. The other phones have a crap os with a lot of bloatware. CMF has a clean stock android which wouldn't slow down after bad updates.

Are you facing frequent network issues with your edge 40 by any chance?

Yes, TPU/Hydrofilm is the only viable option. Next would be the UV cured tempered glass.

No issue with network. In fact, no issues at all apart from a drop in battery backup in less than a year of purchase. When new, I used to easily get 36 hrs of backup. Now it dropped to 30 hrs. This is in 10 months of usage.

You can go ahead with Redmi or Moto Edge 65 or 85. Both are good ones

I am using a Moto Edge 40 as well, without a screen protector..

Here is a recommendation. Try putting on the transparent back cover that came with the phone (yes, the one that does not protect the sides of the phone). Initially I felt uncomfortable using it but it has grown on me with time. I have dropped my phone a couple of times, it landed screen first on hard concrete on both occasions and survived the mishap both the times (the reason being the slightly raised lips it offers that protrude over the screen, so I assume the screen never has a direct impact). I have been a fan since then.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Recently got myself a Vivo X100 Pro. It is a flagship phone of Vivo's Indian product lineup, with great specifications, Dimensity 9300 chip, 5400mh battery, 16GB/512GB, and a gorgeous camera setup. This phone has recently not been available in many of Pune's stores, and I was lucky to get hold of one at a VSP outlet.
I plan to use this as a complement to my regular Sony A7 IV. Looking forward to posting snaps, because I like what I see so far !

Good luck with Sony's app. I call it "Cr'app" which tells you what I think of it. Mind you, it works just fine for some, although it still not exactly a good app.

Hint: connecting with a USB C-to-C cable really is easy. Whilst I think they might have improved the wifi connection, it can still be very tough, especially the initial setup. I just keep a 1m C-to-C cable in my camera bag.

It's a great camera .

True that- I thought the earlier IEM was a slightly better software. I cant wait to do a side-by-side photography with my Sony A7IV-Tamron 28-200mm setup complemented by Vivo X100 Pro's easy and convenient snapping capability. My family thinks all this is just too much for a regular hobby though.

Is it worth buying Google Pixel 8 in 2024? I am getting 8GB, 256GB for little above 41K on Flipkart while the same configuration is available for 60K at both Croma and Reliance Digital.
