Let me know if you manage to get the battery.

I have a Oneplus 7 with battery that does not last long and I was planning to visit the Oneplus store in VR Mall, Bangalore. Not a big issue as the usage of the phone is less. The phone is performing well otherwise.

Google might be your friend

Actually, this was my first result with DuckDuckGo.

Just a suggestion. I don't at all this to mean go and google, because one good forum recommendation is worth a dozen search results. And please excuse if you think that this post is, therefore, a complete waste of space: I can accept that!

Anyway, good luck with the quest for a compatible. A big shame to throw a good phone out for want of a battery.

After enquiring around for a new one from the company and failing to find it, I went in for a local one from an offline shop known to my chauffeur. It has a 6-month warranty and cost me Rs. 1.2K. I'm not sure how safe using such batteries are. I may end up getting a new phone soon, though my current one works perfectly.

I don't think the OnePlus store at VR is operational.

I didn't want t to go for these as the first option since they didn't seem original and have no reviews, hence the question posed to the forum for advice.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

I am unable to get the Google's security notification (Yes, it's me OR No) on my Redmi K20 when I try to login from another login device (laptop, etc.)

Can anyone help me as to what could be the issue? It says that the notification has been sent to the K20 device, but there's nothing showing up.

Check 2 things:

1. Google App on your phone is up-to-date.
2. Your phone is listed as a trusted device on Manage Google Account > Settings > Security > Google Prompt > Google Prompt Devices

I think you got sick of all the notifications and went to Settings -> Nofitications -> App notifications and disabled most of them. But when you did that, very likely you disabled notifications from a core android app whose job is to give that Yes/No login notification.

So all you have to do is enable this app's notifications. On my phone, I have disabled everything except:

Android system intelligence
Google Play Services

So enable these two notifications on your phone and check.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Hi Friends, seeking a quick help here!

I'm looking for a phone for my mother under 25k and I've no idea about this segment. I'm an iPhone user and hence have very little idea about the Android space. She's currently using a Redmi Note series phone for few years now but the phone has slowed down and I see that it has so much of bloatware, so much that even opening a PDF on Whatsapp feels like a task with ads and all the unnecessary apps.

I was suggesting One Plus Nord CE4 Lite or CE4 but my father suggested Realme Narzo 70 Turbo.

Her requirements are:

1. Sufficiently good camera
2. Good battery life in real scenarios and not merely capacity
3. Reliability
4. Minimal bloatware
5. Good enough speed to run various usual apps

Kindly help me with this!

Thank you

You will have to exclude all the Chinese phones if you want it bloat free. My personal favourite is the Motorola, but if the goal is to keep it long term be aware that updates stop after 2-3 years. Note that it is similar with midrange chinese phones as well, but Xiaomi phones get frequent updates eventhough andriod version seldom changes. My next pick would be one of the Nothing's if she can live with the Gliph contraption. Maybe the CMF phone will be good pick especially since it is a rugged phone and should be more senior friendly than all the all-glass phones. Then there are the pixels - I have the Pixel 9 which is decent except that is damn heavy for a 6.2 inch phone. I am not sure how the 7 year update promise will work out and am keeping my fingers crossed. If none of them work for you, you can fall back on the Oneplus.

The Nord CE 4 is a good phone but please stay away from the CE4 Lite, it has a 3-year-old processor and is not worth your money in 2025, the Narzo 70 Turbo is also a good option. You could consider the Moto Edge 50 Lineup as well ranging from the vanilla Edge 50 to Edge 50 Pro (which is slightly above your budget) but still tremendous value.

The Poco F6 is a genuinely good option, and so is the new Poco X7 Pro, the rear cameras are good, but the selfie cameras leave a lot to be desired. Everything else these phones are great for, especially the X7 Pro.

The iQoo Z9S Pro is also a genuinely well-rounded device and could be considered as well.

Get the OnePlus Nord CE 4 (do not buy the CE 4 Lite).

Currently it's going for 20k and I think it offers fantastic value for that price.

Thank you for all your inputs! Went through everything and had to skip Moto as I read multiple user reviews about phone heating up and my mother even otherwise complains if the phone heats up a little bit, so had to strike it off. The CMF design didn't work for her. She like the other brands. But as mentioned by all, the Chinese brands all seem to have bloatware and ads. One Plus shows to have much lesser out the available options. I really wanted to extend to a Pixel but my parents will kill me if I spend beyond this budget on a phone

So it's going to be One Plus Nord CE4 or the Nord 4. I realise Nord 4 has slightly better specs and the website shows up to 6 years of Software support where as, I read the CE4 has a much lesser period of the support. CE4 has expandable memory slot and Nord 4 does not have. So just looking into these smaller details and will finalise today.

I am fairly sure your mother doesn't care about being on the latest Android version for the next 6 years. But if that's an important parameter, please go with the Nord 4 by all means.

The Nord CE 4 will be more than enough for her in my opinion.

The Nothing Phone 3a is also a good option btw if bloat free UI is your top priority. Check out this comparison video with the OnePlus Nord CE 4:

Ideally, the Nord CE4 would be more than sufficient, considering it has a good processor, decent cameras, IP54, 100W fast charging etc, however, it feels a bit too basic with the plastic build as well as the unconfirmed software support which should ideally mean it gets maximum 2 updates.

Considering you like to keep your phones for long, the Nord 4 is an excellent choice with an even better processor, good cameras, 100W fast charging, an excellent all-metal (Aluminum frame and back) build, IP65, A brighter display, 4 major updates and so on. This phone feels built to last and is worth the extra money. Moreover it has a solid in-hand feel unlike the plasticky feel of the Nord CE4.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Hello everyone! I’ve got a slightly different requirement - I’m looking for a phone to primarily use as a 5G hotspot. My setup is all apple, with a work thinkpad (which needs to be on an always on VPN) thrown in. I‘ve been seeing an increased requirement to connect on the move - on an average of 3-5 hours per day.

Im looking for a phone with solid 5g support, good battery life and something I can use for long (I tend to use my devices for at least 3-4 years). Don’t really care about the rest of the specs. Also, no Samsung- I’ve had terrible experience with their service.

I’d like to spend as little as possible, so can the experts here please recommend me something?
