Thank you, you are correct. Yes, and yes. I just looked at my in-the-box charger, and it has a big "33" on it.

I did purchase another charger for use in another place. This has greater capabilities although I don't need them at this time.

68? I might have just got confused and made that up. Unjustified promotion of my phone by more than double!

If/when I get this, I'll miss the 68W charging of my moto. Half an hour on turbo cha and it is good enough for the rest of the day.

Haha.... The actual number may be different, but your impression of how fast it charges should be good. And in that case, the Pixel 7 may not disappoint you either, if Google's claim of "50% charging in 30 minutes" can be relied upon! The 20W charger rating may not allow you to claim it to be turbo charging, however! :-)

Charging speeds are average on Pixel devices. My Pixel 7 takes almost 1 hr 20 min for 30-100 charge with a 25w Samsung charger. 30-80 time is much better, around 45 min.

Initial charge is fast, till 50%, but progress after that is really slow. I usually keep the battery between 30-80% so can't comment on the 0-100 time.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

I have already proved that my memory for the specs is rubbish

But my Moto I think is supposed to charge to 50% in half an hour and full in two hours. As it will give me two days on a full charge, that initial half hour is plenty for me if I face a charge and go out situation.

I don't think the pixel 7a will approach this. But I'm sure it will do. It is nice to have lots of battery capacity, but in all practical terms, I can always charge overnight, so 24 hours suffices.

I think that the fast initial charge followed by slow completion is because of battery chemistry?

How about Moto Edge 50 Pro? Clean UI, Good Cameras (incl Telephoto lens) and can run Google Camera seamlessly.
Otherwise, there are other Pixel A series options as well..

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Here is my review of the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion forest blue(8 +128) after using it for 1 month(34 days to be perfect)

1. Battery: Superb (10/10)
I am getting 5.5-6hrs(100-10%) of screen-on-time(SOT) consistently depending upon the use case(like wifi or cellular) without battery saver and there have been instances where I got 7.5hrs SOT. I always use the mobile in 144hz and 5G with wifi, Bluetooth and NFC on. So considering my usage this is a really great battery backup

Charging time is around 1 hour for 0-100

2. UI: best in the segment (10/10)
I have only used Chinese UIs extensively so this feels refreshing, it packs in a lot of features like Smart Connect and other Moto apps. It also has many customization options.
The Moto gestures are very well thought out and useful, and the back taps are a hit or miss like hands-free tailgate in cars

3. Ergonomics(very light and slim): Spot on (9/10)
The phone only weighs around 180g and is just 7.9mm thick, providing a sleek experience in hand. But the phone feels narrow and tall so people who prefer a compact phone might not like this

4. Build Quality: On par with the segment (8/10)
It has a GG5 at the front while the sides and back feature a plastic make. nonetheless, the back plastic has a matte texture and premium feel. It has vegan leather and an Alcantara-like suede finish option. It also has IP68 waterproof which is unheard of by any other brand in this price range

5. Display: Could have been a notch better (8/10)
It is a 10-bit display with a 144hz refresh rate and 360hz touch sampling rate. It is a nice display but the aspect ratio is weird 20:9 so videos won't run in full screen. Also, it doesn't have HDR support which is a great miss IMO

6. Camera: Good (8/10)
I don't want to go technical here, it has OIS and the photos came out good for the segment but I'm not a very big fan of the video quality. But the videos do feel stable. I use gcam which elevates the picture quality even more

7. Performance: Great for casual users (7/10)
I won't play games, but I do a lot of multitasking. I didn't encounter any software glitches, issues or lags with the performance during this period. The RAM management is also good. Turning off virtual RAM provides better performance as 8GB RAM is more than enough. It only has UFS2.2 storage which could have been 3.1 at least in the 256GB version

8. Software Updates: Poor (3/10)
I got the security patch for July just a couple of days back(23rd August 2024) and Moto's track record is also poor for providing updates on time. Hope they fix this

Overall I would give it a solid 8/10 for the price and this is the one of the most VFM phone under 23k(without card or exchange offers)

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Any one with Samsung S24 facing occasional network lag/congestion ? I am on Jio/Airtel (Primary/Secondary) and I am observing more frequent network congestion especially when there are multiple apps open and multiple notifications. Often I have to "reset" the network by switching to Flight Mode and back. For a brand new (2024) edition, the network performance is a bit disappointing compared to my erstwhile S21 Ultra. Or is it that the Ultras have better wireless radios ?

Thanks for your review! Do you know if the Edge 50 series is available in offline stores like Croma or Reliance Digital, or do we need to buy only from the Moto website/Flipkart?

Hi split, If your preference is entirely based around cameras then you can try a pixel 7a/7 for instance. I am pretty sure that they are the best camera phones around. But this would come with a fair share of compromises as Pixel devices are known to have network issues a bit. You can also check out the Moto Edge 50 series but they don't have a very consistent camera performance. Lastly you can check the Realme 12/13 Pro+. They are also camera centric smartphones and you can have good camera performance from them.

I'm not sure whether these are online-specific models or not but I have seen these phones for sale in grey markets(unauthorised resellers) for the same price albeit without discounts.

Still, you can try your luck with Moto's official retailers in your city

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Guys, Iam the one who always criticizes Samsung coz their phones become laggy after 2-3 years of usage and their UI is not my kind of, although I have used their J series phones which were superhit between 2016 - 2019. It was the J series which made me hate Samsung.
Though Iam again on the boat to consider a Samsung's premium smartphone The Galaxy s23 ( Because of good camera and 8 Gen 2 Processor )on the upcoming Flipkart's BBD and Amazon's GIF sale. Avoiding S24 because of the infamous Exynos processor, I currently have a Realme 6i and Realme 8 ( 4+128, Helio G95 ), surprisingly Realme 6i( 6+64, Helio G90T ) is 2 years old than the Realme 8, but the 6i still works like a charm, it almost works like new, whereas my primary phone Realme 8 has totally become garbage, it hangs like everything, it doesn't even hold YouTube in the background, sometimes while making payment, if I switch from Amazon or Flipkart to Messages to read the OTP it restarts the app, which is too much annoying. My primary needs - Camera and Pure Performance
Considered options ( Budget around 35k ) -
1. OnePlus 12, 12R ( Green Line Issue)
2. Pixel 8 ( Overpriced and Sluggish Tensor G3 )
3. iPhone 15 ( if budget allows )
4. Galaxy S23 ( Perfect for me but the battery? )
5. iPhone 14 & 13 ( Not considered coz of lightning port and they are now old )
I make videos for YouTube, and the iPhone is undefeated champion in the videography segment, because iPhone can shoot same quality of video with all cameras, only the main lens can shoot good videos in the night ( which is not necessary for me ), in short I mainly use the ultrawide cam to shoot the videos, Samsung and other companies only focus on the main lens unlike Apple, stability in videos is another thing makes iPhones king of videography.
So guys, my question is, Should I consider getting S23 ? What about the battery life ( 3900 MaH ) ? Any major issues after updates ? Your insights will be appreciated

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Team, I have been using Realme Air 3 earbuds since last one year. It's an excellent pair offering good ANC and sound for its price. I pair it to my Moto G82. Since last few weeks the volume is very low, even at full volume.
When I paired it with my wife's Moto G64, it's working normal. Any pointers as to what could be the issue?
