That's one of the only pixels worth buying. The 9 has barely any real upgrade over the 8, makes no sense to buy one for the premium they're charging. If you want the most powerful phone though the s23 is the better bet but I find the pixel software to be much slicker.

How smart is it to buy a Galazy Z Flip 6?

Price on the corporate store frequently drops to sub 70k (as low as 68k). That is lower than the non-foldable S24 on Amazon etc. The No-Cost-EMI price is as low as Rs.2500 for 24 months for 256 GB. That's almost exactly the same as the iPhone 16 256GB "Iphone for Life" EMI. The difference being, you get to keep your Flip 6 after the 2 year period while to keep the iPhone, you need to pay up another 30% of MRP.

Regarding the Pixel 8 128GB for 34.5k and 256GB for 39k (like it was yesterday), it is a steal of a deal. This is a phone that has 6 years of OS updates remaining with a very solid camera and acceptable battery life improvement over the Pixel 7 128GB that I purchased for 50k about 13 months back.

Its VFM at this price considering the long term 6-7 years of Android support is still available out of total 8.

Any current users of One Plus 12R? How's the camera & OS performance? is it worth buying it in 40k? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My 5-year-old Poco F1 just died yesterday, and I didn't want to go for another Chinese phone. I thought of getting Nothing 2a, but then my wife pushed me to get something better. My criteria were clean, bloat-free UI, better camera, and something rare. I didn't want to go for OnePlus, one of the apparent choices in the midrange or even Samsung. I once looked at Pixel 7a, and subsequent research and reviews suggested it's a good phone. That's why I started looking for Google phones. So yesterday, I went straight to Croma near my house, and they tried to push Pixel 8a for 35K as Pixel 8 wasn't available, and while their website featured Pixel 8, it was priced at a whopping 60K. The same was the case with Reliance Digital.

Long story short, with all the 4K discount on the ICICI credit card included and the cost of no-cost EMI added, I just placed the order for 41300. Thanks.

It is 43k here now. For those with shallower pockets, the 7a has fallen to 30k on Flipkart. Is the 8 worth the extra?

Except this is not quite apple/apples: the Pixel 8 you are talking about has 256k storage. That is very attractive to me, especially with no expansion possible. I expect 128 to get cramped, but that I could live with 256 for the foreseeable future.

Hey, I'm someone who was shocked spending 10k on a phone. Then I spent 20. I was eyeing the Pixel 7 series until last I started thinking seriously about the 8a.

Wallet !

But should we wait for the Big/Bigger/Biggest next sale? Diwali approaches.

BBD is the biggest sale of Flipkart where the prices are the lowest. The follow on sale events till Diwali are either equal to BBD or, in fact, slightly higher than BBD.

Last year I was I was eying Pixel 7 or 7a. During BBD 7 was 41,999 and 7a was 35,999. I didn't buy anything during BBD and, like you, hoped to get better price in Diwali sale. But the 7 went up by a1000 while 7a stayed at the same price.

Yes definitely, because Pixel 8 is the first phone by Google which comes with long term software support of 7 years which I think will be live till 2030. And second thing the size of 8 is also smaller compared to Pixel 6/7 which is more ergonomic and comfortable to hold and use.

So the extra spending will not pinch at all considering the long lifecycle of the 8. None of the variant of 7 is now worth considering with such short OS support left for it compared to 8.

You can consider the 128 GB version which is slightly cheaper.

Its irony when I see many people don't blink eyes when its about buying new phone costing 40-50K or even more but they don't have a fully automatic washing machine or other needful things at home which can help in their routine life by reducing the workload.

There was time when people used to think a lot to buy a TV for the whole house costing much less than today's average mobile phones but now all members of family are found glued to their mobiles where every mobile costs more than an average TV.

Companies have found better ways to make profits by selling much less and better medium to transmit curated advertisements to each member of a family as well.

It's to do with what we value. I have been known to say, when looking at phone prices, if I was going to spend that kind of money I'd buy a lens! Bottom line is that my camera is my hobby, but phone (even with a decent mobile camera) is utility.

But yep, here I am, considering buying that phone

Honestly pixel 7 is more than enough for any normal user performance wise, still has one of the best cameras on the buisness and great software. But the pixels Achilles heel for me has always been the inferior modem compared to Snapdragon stuff, in my experience my snapdragon 888 phone easily does better at cell reception compared to a friend's pixel 6. In the pixel 8 series they seem to have improved that a lot as per reviews, that alone is worth getting the 8 for me.

Those considering to buy the Pixel 8, do look up about the Green Screen issue. Its all over reddit and two of my friends (2.5 month old phone & 7 month old phone) had this issue and it was a nightmare of them to deal with the warranty repairs. I have a Pixel 6a and was considering to get the 8, but after their ordeal, stayed away. Will pick up a Pixel 9 in a couple of months when the price drops.

I am in the same boat. Using POCO F1 since 2018 and extremely happy with it. It's showing its age and need a worthy replacement soon before it dies on me. Couldn't find a suitable phone yet with good camera like POCO F1. For 18K it was the best for that price range in 2018.

Will surely look into Pixel phones now!

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Glad to see so many Pixel fans here. I've been on the Pixel 6a for some time now. Even though I strongly considered the S24, I was waiting for the 6a to fail or slow down at something. It is yet to let me down. I was worried that android 15 will kill it but it only made it better. Icing is that it fully absorbs the tantrums of my kid who throws it around. My previous favorite was the Lumia 822(which still works), but, the 6a unseated it.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Mother got the dreaded green-line issue on her Samsung S21 FE 5G. Phone is exactly 1.5 yr-old. Knowing how much she takes care of her phone, the issue is definitely not due to rough usage. After going through a lot of online posts, realised that many Samsung S-series devices are facing this issue. No amount of tagging Samsung in online posts complaining about this has helped anyone it seems. Service Centre refuses to acknowledge this as a brand problem and conveniently shifts the blame on the users.

Going by the sheer number of people facing this issue, this points to a larger lacunae in the screen quality of Samsung devices. Severely appalling!
