It's more than weak, it's horrible --- and one of the few things I really don't like in my Defy+

What a lovely phamily! What a great guy!

I think your composition skills are doing a lot to compensate here, but I do see the same washed-out flat look that I notice in my own pictures. Compensation in an image editor would probably help, but we should not have to do that, especially to every photo.

My old N82 was particularly good at closeups, even macros. I could get a good picture of a bug on a wall in the night. The Defy+'s flash seems to have no control at all, and washes out anything close.

Apart from that ... I like my first Android phone. I certainly can't imagine ever going back to a keypad!

^^^ +1 to that. They are quite washed out. Don't seem to have much detail either. And this in full daylight. Pics in lower light will be less than acceptable, I'm sure. I wonder how it works for text.

LOL thanks.

Even my 2007 K750 2mp cam could do a good job with closeups. the flipside is that the defy flash is better than almost ALL mobile torches i have seen. EVER.

I am doing the EXACT opposite - may buy HTC chacha whenever I get the chance. I am a typing junkie. I have seen the dark side but I can't wait to come back to the light

Actually, it does quite well. Like really. You just need to figure out the right height at which the flash doesn't burn out the pics. The documents are perfectly readable. But of course, not K750 level sharpness/noise!!

Thanks! This is the ideal age for kids. They should just be 1 year old size, 3 year old conversation skills till 18 and then suddenly grow up into adults and leave for college. I'm dreading him turning into a naughty boy like many of the 4-5 year olds in our complex!!

I'm a QWERTY keyboard junkie. I never liked phone keypads and (having been nice about its camera) the N82's buttons were particularly nasty. I have never had any time for TXT-speak, and always spell out in full, even though my spelling is often wrong.

My first really dumb lesson with the Defy+ was trying to type in portrait mode. They keys are just tiny!

Next thing was that, although I do not touch type, or even use all the fingers, my hands have known keyboards since about 6 years old. At first, I found it very difficult to know the letter positions for one-hand-holding, one-finger-typing.

Having got over that hurdle, I discovered Swype --- it is so superior to any predictive typing on a keypad. I would not swap this for a physical qwerty phone.

(I agree with your child analysis! Never had one of my own, but known and lived with those of others and made good friends of under-fives. It's nice when they can talk, and the that's-red-no-it's-green-it's-RED stage is over and real communication starts. School means coming home with bad habits, like fleas, every day: my step-grandson has just reached this stage and is delighting in the newly discovered pleasure of shocking with rude words!) Whoa! Too much off-topic <Blush>

You can try Swiftkey X. Its incredible and makes swype seem wasteful.

It is based on language prediction. So if you often introduce yourself, you can automatically make sentences like
"This is Thad E ginathom from Chennai". Try it once!!

Hi Ariend,

KAINU is meant only for India. The product code is different in other countries. I checked in xda-developers forum but did not find sufficient info.

Still waiting on responses whether the i9100 international version (non G) is available in Singapore or not. I believe even Australia has the i9100 version. Any one living in Australia can please confirm. Desperate to buy one asap.

Thanks
Srinath

thats true and what i meant was the phone version on box will show a 'G' after the model number that is GT-I9100G****** in case of 'G' version of S2.

if you buy the non 'G' version and get the 9100G then your eligible for replacement from Samsung!!

re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Hi guys,

I'm considering buying an iPhone 4S (White, 32GB) in Bangalore. I went around the shops, and no one was willing to offer more than Rs. 300 off!! Any suggestions how I can get one with bill and warranty for cheaper?

I wish I could still just click <thanks>

Have glanced at one or two alternative keyboard input methods. Sticking with Swype for now, but quite likely not for ever
