Well funny isn't it, come the first birthday you feel like showering the faithuful steed with the choicest stuff!!

I did the same as well, My Getz CRDi turned '1' July 2nd. As a treat, I had a exterior beautification treatment done at 'Car-nation' - Hyderabad. it cost me 1500/- totally worth it! The gloss is still there a week later and I did not even know that the black paint job had Blue and Red Metallic shine in it.

The other things that I showered it with on the birthday -
Lighting Audio 6.5" in the rear doors (I was using older speakers from the Esteem - which needed a change)
Bosch Horn (the skoda kind, the puny Horn that Hyundai gives is no match for this beast)
HID Projector Headlamps with Angel Eyes (Delivery and Installation pending - will post pics soon)

Stamford Sport Wheels 15"
Michilen XMF Sport Wheels 195x55xR15
Matt Black Racing Stripes (a la Kinght Rider and hence the name)

It has been a while since I got the pampering done, and never really washed the car afterwards. Reason - It's raining in Madras , and I didn't want to touch the car with the usual cloth I use. Was planning to head to the 3M distributor and get the detailing cloth for a while now (right from the day the car came out gleaming from Carz Spa!).

Was refilling at Shell Velachery, checked out the Wurth detailing cloth they had - was priced at 1000+, which was the labelled MRP - skipped it without a second thought, and finally dragged my bottom to 3M this morning. This is what I got (the blue and the yellow cloth):

I cloth is worth the buy - I guess it retails for about 300 for the yellow and 350 for the blue. I would strongly recommend everyone to buy one. Am using the yellow (the one I bought) for wet washing, the blue for dry dusting (mildly), and the free yellow for dusting the interiors. Looks like my wet cloth will easily make it for 6 months or more, going by the feel of today's wash.

I use my dirty, ~10 bucks traffic-signal yellow cloth for cleaning the dirty alloys, and to remove sand and much from the door panels and under the doors.

You bet, the stock horn sounds like that of a Honda Activa's!! No wonder I have to honk like crazy before the surprised jay-walker realizes 'tis a car!

Where have you put the new horn - removed the stock and fixed it instead? Or elsewhere?

After this happened, I am back to choosing alloys and tires. I am thinking of down sizing back to stock 14", and put 185/60 R14 footwear - which means new set of alloys.

I saw a bunch of OZ and Sparco designs and liked a few, the prices were between 24k to 29k though. As this is an unexpected purchase, I don't want to put in so much money (say, ~24k for the alloys and ~ 15k for the tires). Suggestions please?!!

• Should I buy just one new tire to match the rest and go on with it - though the rest are 23k old?
• Should I buy a new set of four tires in 15" itself?
• The 15" is killing my ride comfort - should I go back to 14", considering 70% to 80% of my driving is in city?
• What kind of a buy back can i expect for my five 15" alloys and the three 23k-used 195/55 R15 Yoko S. Drives?
• Should I look away from brands like OZ and get a 14" HR or similar make?

I am seeing so many Getz 15" complaining of ride quality. MY friend had 17" and had his alloy broken. Its a touch choice you have to make here . You will lose some money when going for sell and buy . You have few choices in your current size like BS GIII,. Goodyear Assurance, Eagle F1.

Hard luck, mate !

1. Use this as spare tire and at least do 30k kms before you dispose them.
2. Inviting trouble again ?
3. Get grippy 14" tires likes Neovas
4. 12~ 15k for alloys and almost nothing for the tires so better do at least 30k kms.
5. Get stock i20 alloys and save some money.

@undead, I guess our roads are not meant for 15" rockets yet! 17" on a Getz in Indian roads is a overkill by miles - unless we have airport runways or NICE roads all over!!! I dont want to risk another set of 15", so 14" it is!

The prob is, my spare is the 14" stock rim and tire the car came with!

Get 185/65-14 or 195/60-14.
I'm on second set of 185/65-14 A drives @ 61k kms.

You sold off your stock rims? I kept mine safely in case needed for future. I am having 195/60R14 , it increased GC compared to stock and i am quite happy with that part when going to my farm lands. But , it gets little bumpy. 185/65 will be good from my side. decide well machi.

@phoenix - I still think you should go with 195s. The 185 was bumpy on the verna and did not inspire any kind of feel on the steering or the handling. The 195s are far far better handling wise and much more comfortable. I think 195/60/r14 BF Good rich are the way to go for you. This was also tried and tested on Shyam's getz and trust me it will blow your mind. I regret not going in for the more grippier Goodrich and picking up the xm1+ instead.

Thanks man, I thought I will never get back to stock size when I bought he rocket a year ago - learning experiences!!

I dont think it is the tire width that causes bumpiness, Prasanna. If anything, 185 should be less bumpy, as the contact patch is smaller compared to 195s. I am toying between BFG and A.Drives ever since we spoke, let's see...

I too had 195/60R14 BFG Sport . I had unhappy experience with it. The tire was so noisy, it had only cornering grip and nothing much from the braking side . Comfortable was worse and i had to throw them off at 20000kms and go for A-drives. Think twice before going for BFG. The next time when i go for tire change , i will be try to go for 185 series. I am not pushing her hard nowadays. I am driving smooth and keeping at 100kmph and i am getting around 17kmpl average.

@Undead - Did you have the BFGs installed on the stock rims or on 6J alloys?

@phoenix - I found the braking brilliant in the BFGs in comparison to my CPCs. The ride was a little harder but the grip was good. Noise? it was as bad as the CPCs which are supposed to be comfort and noise free tyres.As for the size the best size in the 14" would be 195/60 R14 but if you are crazy you can go in for 205s but i doubt any good brand has the 205s. AD-07s are the bestest choice but then i am not sure how long they would last with a front end heavy car like ours. So do take your time and decide and as kp said drive the existing tyres for the next 10k kms. It would give you enough time to decide.
