Cara Mia Fiat Linea Gets Spare Alloy Wheel

The bent spare alloy wheel was repaired at A1 Car Care Centre, Jayanagar 1 st Block, yesterday, at a cost of Rs 700.

My Linea had also undergone wheel balancing and alignment there costing Rs 600. After dismantling the wheels for balancing, Ilyas Khan of A1 Car Centre suggested painting of the rear brake drums and front brake calipers so as to cover the much-talked-about rusts, for which I readily agreed. Cost: Rs 700.

Strange, but true: The spare alloy wheel does not want it clamped in the spare wheel well as it is designed to hold tightly only the steel spare wheel.

@Ravi - You can get that clamping pin elongated if you really want to use your alloy for the spare tyre. Any small workshop/welding shop will cut the clamp before where the thread starts and weld a piece between them to make it longer.

Thanks a lot for that practical suggestion, fiat_tarun. I shall act on that soon.

What Is FIAT Mug Doing In My Linea?

Just a few hours back, I received 3 FIAT mugs from Partsworld UK. I placed my order on 2 November 2011 and paid Rs 5124.44 through my PayPal account using discount coupon code of FF010. Out of the three mugs, one is reserved for my 3-year old Australian grand daughter, who is visiting here next month. If my Linea's key chain with FIAT logo is shown to her on Skype, she would say, 'Thatha's FIAT car!' as she likes Thatha's blue car.

Unfortunately, this red FIAT mug is not available with FIAT authorised service centres in India. However, a different mug with FIAT logo is available.

I'll come over for a small coffee meet sometime...I want to have coffee only in this mug.

Why don't you invite me

I feel that since you pamper her so much and she has returned back that love by taking you to Leh and back without any problems

What more are you getting her???

re: Cara Mia Fiat Linea! EDIT: 71,700 km and sold!

very well maitianed service history ...you've inspired me to create one.
Though not as detailed as your's, I have maintained a cost sheet showing whatever I've spent on my car.
Today I included the service cost seeing your file..thankyou
Accordingly, for the 19.5k kms, my car's service cost is 0.34Re per kilometre

below is the screen shot from my file

Cara Mia Fiat Linea! EDIT: 71,700 km and sold!-punto-cost.jpg

for a sedan which has come back from leh and rearing to go anywhere, maintenence/service cost is a little over half a rupee..Isn't it a deal breaker?

Re: Cara Mia Fiat Linea Gets Spare Alloy Wheel

The spare wheel is meant to go in to the wheel well inverted, the clamp will fit easily. It is the same way in all of the cars which are coming with an alloy as a spare. If worried about scratches etc on the alloy's face you can spread a plastic sheet around the well, I use an old spare tube.

Thanks, hemanth.anand. You have given a spark. Mine is only maintenance cost. Now, I will prepare detailed ownership cost per km by including accessories and accident repairs.

Thanks, khoj. I tried in vain. All my spare alloy wheel got were some scratches. The spare wheel well is designed to hold the steel wheel in upright condition only. I even thought of elongating the clamp rod by cutting and welding a 1.5" piece in the middle so that the thread would reach the nut holding the alloy wheel tightly. But, the handle of the clamp protrudes above the floor level of my Linea's boot resulting in an ugly bulge at the centre. If I keep a luggage at the centre, it doesn't sit properly. So, now my Linea's alloy wheel sits in its place without the clamp.

Wishing you a very happy birthday! Hope you have a great time.

No update on your Linea for a long time. How are things? Any recent mods/additions?

Ravi, I noticed the painter spraying the calipers without covering the wheel arches with newspapers . Isn't there a risk of the paint spreading over accidentally ?
